Who writes Stackroot, and how

It is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or a continuation of any former owner of this domain. It inherits the subject matter: server-side web development on Linux. It does not inherit the identity.

What carries over

The topic. The market. The language. The set of links between pages that makes the site navigable as a whole. Those are structural. A new project that takes over a domain takes over the shape of the content, not the face of it.

What does not carry over

The brand name. The byline. The voice. The visual identity. The claim of authorship. If you arrived here from a bookmark, an old email, or a search engine that still lists a previous site at this address: you are reading a different publication now. It is not the same person, the same team, or the same project.

Method

Every page is written to be run. Copy the command. Check the output. If a step does not match your version, the page says which version it targets. Corrections are welcome and are made in the next build, not in a comment thread.
