How to configure library mode in XBMC Apple TV 2G ( movie covers, title, genre) Part 2

with 5 comments

Now highlight library and press and hold Menu button.

Click button Left and highlight Library Mode

To get the xbmc to create the library properly always put the movie in the directory with the name and the year of the movie.
Let’s say you have file Armyofdarkness.avi. Stick it to the folder called Army of Darkness (1992)
as it appears in imdb.com http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0106308/

Let’s say xbmc didn’t get the movie right. No problem. Look at this case. The movie here is a The Dark City 1998 but the XBMC detected it as The Director’s Cut as the folder is called The Dark City – The Director’s Cut (1998)

We can fix it quickly:

In the next post I will show how to configure TV Shows and Music library

Thanks for the info, have a LG NAS N1A1 working thanks to you, but, i have a Q for you. Had the OpenSubtitles working when i had the NAS connected by usb, as an ext-HD, but when i switched it as UPnP it crashes when i select any subtitle.

Hi Gustavo. Sorry I was away for sometime. Your xbmc is running on Apple TV 2G? How did you get your NAS connected to Apple TV2G via USB? The USB on Apple TV2G is only for maintenance.

Well I don’t use UPnP. I use SMB Windows Network as described in this post. I also have a little plugin that allows me to download the subtitle for the film from various sources including opensubtitles.org I think is called xbmc.subtitles or something like that.

Well I will give it a go tonight. I will enable UPnP on my NAS, check the subtitles and will let you know.

    Hi Arturitio,

Can you help me? I can’t SSH into my apple tv2. I tried to SSH with putty, filezila, and cyberduck. I made sure the network IP was what on the apple tv2. But no luck.

Can I SSH using an ethernet cable hook to my router? Thanks.

      1. Connect your Apple TV 2G to your router via ethernet cable.
      2. Make sure that Apple TV 2G has obtained IP address. (Settings > General > Network)
      3. Use this IP to connect with Putty

      See images below:

Remember that you can only SSH to your Apple TV if you have it jailbroken.
      Which method did you use?
